LODGE FACILITIES

Lodge Chalet Gol is located right on the side of the mountain. Once you arrive in the valley in Champoluc, it takes a bit of organization to get you and your luggage and any purchases up the mountain to the lodge. You can either travel by piste basher, or you can take your luggage on the aerial tramway. At the top of the tramway, a resident of Cuneaz will be waiting to transport you to the village by snowmobile. Maria will be waiting to welcome you to Lodge Chalet Gol and show you around.

When you arrive on a Saturday, if you decide to have dinner the first evening in the village restaurant L’Aroula, the restaurant proprietor can transport you and your luggage directly to Lodge Chalet Gol. This is also a fun option, because you can just let the proprietor know what time you would like to eat dinner (or we can do that for you) and then you just walk to the restaurant and back from Lodge Chalet Gol. When you arrive, Maria will be waiting to welcome you to Lodge Chalet Gol and show you around before dinner.

Lodge Chalet Gol has five bedrooms with double beds which fit two adults each. There is a dormitory bedroom in the attic, suitable for four children (adults cannot stand upright in this bedroom, although the four one-person beds are the same width and length as adult beds). There is also a separate sauna house which has a six-person Finnish sauna, a two-person shower, and a toilet, as well as a mezzanine with an additional two-person bed. The main house also has a two-person sofa bed in the living room and a one-person sofa bed on the mezzanine. The chalet can comfortably sleep twelve, and if the dormitory and sofa beds are used, there is room for up to nineteen people.

The renovation work in Lodge Chalet Gol resulted in a large living room with an open kitchen, all grouped around a large open fireplace. The attractive common spaces have been spread over different levels and given high ceilings. As a result, the bedrooms are compact, but they all have an en-suite bathroom with toilet, sink, and shower or bathtub. One bedroom has a bathroom located one storey higher, with a shower and bathtub and a separate toilet. This bathroom is also used by the dormitory.

The double beds are 1.60 metres wide, and in three of the bedrooms, one side of the bed has been placed against the wooden walls. In the other two bedrooms, the bed is free on both sides.

The mattresses can be easily lifted so that large suitcases or bags can be stored under the bed. The guest house on the terrace has been restored in the same style as the main house and is a kind of miniature Lodge Chalet Gol. The guest house has a sauna and a double shower. On the mezzanine you will find a toilet, a sink, and a 1.60-metre-wide double bed.

Upon your arrival, the beds will all be made with white cotton bed linens. There is a washer and dryer in the house for your use.

The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, a refrigerator and freezer, an induction cooker, and an electric oven. There are also two preprogrammable bread making machines. There is also an electronic Bialetti espresso machine, a toaster, an orange juicer, and a Nespresso milk foamer.

There is a large flat-screen television in a separate area with seating for ten. It is also possible to play Blu-rays and DVDs. There are a number of Blu-rays and DVDs in the house, including some children’s films.

Champoluc can be easily reached on skis during the day. In the evening, you can get to Champoluc and back by taking the aerial tramway, located fifteen minutes’ walk downhill. Starting at 5:00 PM, a number of cabins travel downhill and back once every hour until 11:00 PM, except at 9:00 PM. However, the Monterosa aerial tramway schedules can change from season to season. You can find their site, including the aerial tramway schedule, in the links.

Champoluc has a supermarket and a number of shops at the end of the ski piste and next to the aerial tramway. There are also a number of attractive, authentic hotels and shops on the way to the old village centre, which is just a short walk from the tramway. The heart of the village centre is the church, and the old chapel next to it has been made into a cute little cinema. Champoluc has a number of quality delicatessens, two butcher shops, several cafés and pizzerias, a bookshop, and some sports shops. There are also some cash dispensers in the village centre, and there is a bus service travelling to Verres and beyond.
